ElderFriends

ElderFriends

ElderFriends is a volunteer-based friendly visitation program that provides companionship, outreach, and advocacy.  By facilitating monthly friendly visits, we strive to meet the emotional needs of isolated elders, helping them to age-in-place, in their own homes, for as long as possible. We not only connect elders with volunteers, we re-connect them to their community. At the same time, our program provides volunteers with the opportunity to share their time with elders, enhancing their own pursuit for successful aging.

Program Goals:

  • Relieving isolation and loneliness among older adults
  • Ensuring that elders receive needed social and emotional support
  • Improving knowledge of and access to senior services within the community
  • Helping elders live independently, in their own homes, for as long as possible

Services & Supports:

  • Identifying elders who are in need of socialization and support
  • Recruiting, screening, and training volunteers
  • Making successful, mutually beneficial matches between volunteers and elders
  • Educating volunteers and elders about available community resources
  • Providing frequent, on-going support to both volunteers and elders
